This resort is also of particular interest because it is dotted with the surviving relics of a bygone age, so staying at Le Canonnier places you in the midst of fascinating Mauritian history. Blending comfortably with their tropical surroundings, you will find an ancient lighthouse, a ruined fortress and several old cannons. In fact, Le Canonnier – a friendly and laid-back resort - is the only hotel in Mauritius to be situated on such an important historical site.

Facilities

Le Canonnier offers guests the choice of two excellent restaurants, set apart from the main hotel. The Navigator Restaurant offers table d’hôte and à la carte and is housed in an old colonial building that gazes out over the beach. Le Frangipanier Restaurant is surrounded by coconut palms, enjoying a memorable tropical setting; this is the hotel’s principal restaurant, serving American-style buffet breakfasts and a choice of themed buffets or table d’hôte in the evening. The restaurant also serves as the focus of evening entertainment at Le Canonnier, whether a local band, cabaret or sega dancing. In the gardens you will find Le Planteur, a bar with a very chilled atmosphere where you can sample local cocktails alongside more obvious choices of alcoholic and soft beverages. In the daytime, drinks and snacks can be had from the lively Le Kiosque. Le Canonnier also has a children’s club to keep the little ones happy.

Standard Rooms and Family Duplex’ are all equipped with individually-controlled air-conditioning, private shower and toilet; twin beds (2x2 in Family Duplex), mini-bar, hairdryer, International direct- dialling telephone, safe and TV with DVD and radio.

Superior Rooms are slightly larger and are equipped with all of the above facilities.
